So let's see, what parts of my config helps me out the most.

First off, I should probably let you see my basic config or if you choose not to look at it. basically here is my config for movement and the such.

A: Move Forward
Z: Move Backwards
S: Jump
X: Crouch
Q: Use Powershield
W: Use Machinegun; Use Chaingun
E: Use Shotgun; Use Super Shotgun
D: Use Rocket Launcher
C: Use Grapple
R: Use Hyperblaster
G: Use Grenade Launcher; Use Grenades
F: Is a Zoom Alias
V: Is a FPS Alias
Space: Fire
T: Talk
Y: Talk to teammates only
U: Drop Tech
Left Mouse: Use Railgun
Middle Mouse: Slide Left
Right Mouse: Slide Right
Sensitivity 4
FOV 100

Now that, that is out of the way, now here is the reason for that config, when I first started playing on a computer about 4 years ago, the game I started on was Descent, since we didn't have a joystick at the time, I was using the default config, which is basically what the above is. When I got a joystick, I was using it quite a bit. Then the "hat" broke which is what I was using to Slide up, down, left, right. So instead I started using "S" for my slide up, and x "for my slide down" and used 2 of the buttons on the joystick for sliding left and right. Which is where the sliding on my mouse buttons comes from. I tried using a normal config with my mouse, such as fire, move forward, and move backwards on my mouse, but I was really shitty when I tried to play like that, for the simple fact that I was unable to aim correctly and fire with the mouse and the same time. That is when I decided, "hey I can just use my old descent config" and then I started playing a lot better. The reason I think my config is better than most is that I hardly need to move my mouse to do things like 180's while keeping a normal sensitivity where I can still hit 45% accuracy on my railgun. The weapon binds I have also help out a lot, I would have to advise anyone not using weapon binds close to where their movement keys are at, you might want to do that now. Because the easier you can hit your weapon binds the less time you need to spend looking down cause you missed the "7" key. My 2 keys that are aliases are Zoom and FPS, the Zoom I never use unless I am on defense in CTF. And my FPS is an alias where I hit my key once, and my FPS drops to 30, hit it again and it goes back up to 90. For easier access through a little whole in CTF1. Where my movement keys are at. I usually have my hands well rested while playing, and not all cramped up which is also a plus to anyone experiencing cramps and the such in their hands. Basically with my fire key as my spacebar, it helps me with my aiming a lot, so I don't need to fire with my mouse, cause I have a tendacy to slam my space bar when I am fireing, people can hear me playing Quake, two rooms over.
